On October 28th I was in my last class of the day, aerobics. Our teacher had told us to do whatever we wanted because he was too lazy to come up with a structured activity for the class. So my friends and i lined up the aerobic steps and jumped from one to the other, on about my third time around i jumped off the last step and landed on two feet... pretty solid actually, but then my right ankle rolled in and i heard the loudest snap EVER! Well they called the nurse and she thought i just bruised my ankle, stupid lady. I went to the ER and they said yeah its broken...here is an air cast. Well i couldnt get my swollen foot in it...so my mom called twin city orthopedics and i got in there, turns out i broke my fibula and fractured my ankle stabilizer bone. so they casted me and i had a hard cast for 6ish weeks. Im on my high schools dance team, and we are the best team in our conference, and it sucks because now im out for the whole season :( I just recently was taken out of the plaster cast and given an air cast about two weeks ago, and last wednesday they said the bone was fused and i could walk again. But the problem is...my body has forgotten how to walk on two feet. Its so frusterating!!! Im now able to walk very slowly with one crutch but im leaving for tampa Florida with my dance team on the 28th of december for a team vacation and i dont want to need my crutches for the theme parks and the ocean. Does anybody have any tips to help me be able to walk solidly by then? (I go to PT twice a week and do foot exercises multiple times a day) Any encouragement or similar stories would be very helpful. :/
